If you have the desire and experience to lead, create and be innovative in Communications, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) has an excellent opportunity for you. University Marketing and Communications (UMC) is organized as a full-service, strategic communications agency. Our creative solutions promote the overall University brand, while raising visibility of School, College and major unit initiatives. UMC supports student recruitment efforts, brand awareness initiatives, fundraising efforts, current student communication and more. We are currently accepting applications for our Director of Communications position. The Director reports to the Executive Director of Communications. In collaboration with the Executive Director, this position will have a blank slate to engineer, plan, and implement cutting-edge communication strategies on behalf of SIUE. The Director will be laser-focused on effectively communicating with various internal and external target audiences to cultivate relationships and drive engagement. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing communication and public relations strategies, a news bureau function, and fostering and cultivating media relationships to help tell the unique benefit and value of a SlUE education. The ideal candidate will work to expand community relations opportunities on behalf of the Chancellor and SIUE leadership. In the Executive Director's absence, the Director will be responsible to ensure continuous operations of all Communications functions.

Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, mass communications, public relations, journalism or a closely related field required.  

Minimum 7 years marketing and communications experience of which at least 4 of those years has to have demonstrated experience working with the media, producing and distributing news releases including crisis communications, supervising staff, and working with executive staff members 

Master's Degree preferred.
