Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Administration (14204)

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), a nationally recognized university located in the metro-St. Louis region, invites applicants for the position of Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Administration.  Together with the Director of Athletics and the Deputy Athletic Director, the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Administration oversees all procedures and systems necessary to the Department of Athletics in complying with NCAA and Conference rules and regulations for sixteen NCAA Division I intercollegiate sports.  Fully certified at the Division I level by the NCAA, SIUE is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference, the Mid-American Conference (MAC) (men’s wrestling), and the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) (men’s soccer). 

The Associate Athletic Director will coordinate NCAA rules education programs for administrators, coaches, student-athletes, and booster groups and provide rules interpretations regarding NCAA bylaws and other regulations as needed.  The selected candidate will also work with Admissions Office, Financial Aid Office, and Registrar's Office to ensure compliance with NCAA and Conference regulations regarding admissions and financials of student athletes.  This position will prepare NCAA squad lists and eligibility certifications and oversee the NCAA initial and continuing eligibility processes as well as assist in the completion and submission of required NCAA and Conference reports and surveys.

This position also serves as HR liaison for Athletics and ensures proper processing of all HR related paperwork.  The Associate Director will operate as the Athletic Director's primary advisor in regards to department's Human Resources initiatives.  These efforts will include providing data, reports, analysis and information to develop new policies and practices in addition to design, develop and implement policies and procedures regarding compliance, and human resources.

Additionally, the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Administration will serve as the sport administrator for three (3) assigned athletic teams.  All members of Intercollegiate Athletics staff must comply with all University, Conference, and NCAA Division I rules and regulations. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned in support of the departments’ mission and goals.

The mission of the SIUE Intercollegiate Athletics program is to provide students with opportunities to enhance their education, to represent the University, and to participate in competitive sports while developing skills and understanding. This mission is fulfilled through meeting the following objectives:
1. Emphasize the student athlete concept and support the academic achievement of all participants;
2. Engage in all sporting activities in compliance with NCAA, Conference and University regulations and procedures;
3. Provide equal opportunities for both male and female athletes;
4. Enhance the University’s visibility and name recognition through a comprehensive program of successful competitive athletics;
5. Provide spectator events that contribute to campus life, build community spirit and generate regional competition and rivalry.

- Master's degree.
- At least five (5) years’ experience in Division I compliance plus demonstrated expertise of NCAA rules through previous oversight of compliance operations.  Experience should include and result in the ability to independently apply and monitor NCAA rules related to:  financial aid, academics, rules education, camps/clinics, playing seasons, and recruiting.
- Proficiency with NCAA Internet-based programs CAi and LSDBi.
- Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to multitask and anticipate future needs.
- Demonstrated effective oral, written, and electronic communication skills.
- High skill level with Microsoft Office Products, with expertise in Excel preferred.
- Ability to work with diverse campus constituencies.
- Ability to work with confidential information in a high-pressure environment.

 -Juris Doctorate preferred.
