Head Softball Coach (13931)
105492 - Intercollegiate Athletics

The Intercollegiate Athletics Department at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville invites applications for a full-time, Head Softball Coach. Reporting to the Director and Deputy Director of Athletics, the selected candidate will serve as the head of the softball program.   The Head Coach will be responsible for organization and administration of the program including development of effective and positive communication with the students, faculty, alumni, and community; operate program within the budgetary limitations of the program; as well as coaching, team recruitment, organization of practices, team travel and planning, and all other areas of softball operations (benchmark expectations will be identified).  The Head Coach will be expected to work cooperatively and responsibly with other departmental personnel and have an active leadership role in fund raising and public relations activities for the softball program in addition to the athletics department as a whole.

The selected candidate will be expected to comply with all university, conference and NCAA Division I rules and regulations.  Additionally, the Head Softball Coach will support the student athlete concept and at all times demonstrate concern for the health, safety, and welfare of each student athlete. Other duties and goals may be assigned in support of the department’s needs and goals. Due to the nature of the position early morning, evenings, and weekend hours will be required. Extensive travel during season is also required.  Final candidate must be authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship.

The mission of the SIUE Intercollegiate Athletics program is to provide students with opportunities to enhance their education, to represent the University, and to participate in competitive sports while developing skills and understanding. This mission is fulfilled through meeting the following objectives:
1. Emphasize the student athlete concept and support the academic achievement of all participants;
2. Engage in all sporting activities in compliance with NCAA, Conference and University regulations and procedures;
3. Provide equal opportunities for both male and female athletes;
4. Enhance the University’s visibility and name recognition through a comprehensive program of successful competitive athletics;
5. Provide spectator events that contribute to campus life, build community spirit and generate regional competition and rivalry.

-Bachelor’s degree.
-Four (4) years of collegiate coaching.
-Evidence of strong organizational and communication skills and current knowledge of NCAA Division I regulations.
-Proven successful softball recruiting experience at a collegiate level.
-Evidence of a commitment to academic excellence including athlete graduation.
-Ability to interact effectively with student-athletes, colleagues, and the public.
-Capable and willing to actively plan and participate in fund-raising, promotions, and other similar endeavors as they relate to the softball program and the entire Athletics Department.

-Master’s degree;
-NCAA Division I coaching and recruiting experience.

Exempt
