The Department of Campus Recreation is proud to make serving the students of SIUE its highest priority and primary mission. Campus Recreation has a tremendous diversity of offerings and facilities. We are currently accepting applications for the position of Campus Recreation Coordinator.The Recreation Coordinator (Informal Fitness and Student Development) is responsible for the management, planning, budgeting, and supervision of all Campus Recreation informal use fitness facilities and operations. This position is also responsible for Campus Recreation student staff development to include involvement in areas of recruitment, selection, onboarding, orientating, evaluating, developing and terminating. The position requires knowledge of the physiological and psychological principles of physical activity and healthy lifestyles, organizational and fiscal management, leadership, and evaluation. The informal activity usage of participants is a primary component of the total Campus Recreation department and as such, the Coordinator will be expected to establish and maintain quality offerings and equipment to support strength training, cardiovascular training and other forms of physical activity options. The Coordinator will also be the leader in directing, and maintaining informal fitness facility use operations and work cooperatively with all programs offered by Campus Recreation. The Coordinator oversees the risk management protocol related to all fitness facilities and plays a critical role in the overall risk management plan for Campus Recreation. Responsibilities also include leading and coordinating the equipment inventory process to be in full compliance with the requirements and procedures of SIUE Property Control in addition to assisting with the promotion and marketing of informal fitness participation and engagement.

    1. Master’s degree in a field relevant to the position (e.g., Kinesiology, Sports Management, Exercise Science, Recreation, or closely related field)

      OR
       
    2. Final semester or completed Graduate Assistantship with campus recreation or similar department performing duties for two (2) academic years consistent in area of specialization inherent to the position. *

      OR
       
    3. Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to the position (e.g., Kinesiology, Sports Management, Exercise Science, Recreation, or closely related field)
         AND
      One (1) year (12 months) of work experience in the promotion, design, development, and/or administration of recreational programs.

      OR
       
    4. Four (4) years (48 months) of work experience in promotion, design, development, and/or administration of recreational programs, intercollegiate athletics, campus recreation, park district or similar organization that provides similar program.

*Note: Students in the final semester of a Master’s Degree program, may be allowed to complete a credential examination and will receive full consideration, including being interviewed. An offer may be extended with understanding that proof of degree based on institution is provided to the employing institution Human Resources Office at least two weeks before the proposed start date.

**Note: Newly hired employees may be required to obtain and/or maintain certifications in American Red Cross, CPR/AED/First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogens and similar certifications.
