Illinois Residency Requirement: This position requires current Illinois residency to apply.

 

The department of Environmental Health and Safety is seeking a part-time Accounting Officer.  The selected candidate will perform accounting, purchasing and clerical duties to include but are not limited to:

- Responsible for accurate processing, payment, and job costing activities related to high volume non-labor expense transactions for the Facilities Management cash and smaller operating account(s).

- As delegated fiscal officer, must recognize appropriate expenditure of University funds before commitment.

-Assigns PureSafety online training for SIUE employees.

-Serve as buyer for material, contract, and PCARD purchases, completing and forwarding all necessary paperwork required by SIUE Procurement office, and ensuring appropriate expenditure of University funds before commitment.

-Maintain and update all manual and electronic material files (regarding purchase order and PCARD) per University records retention guidelines (Central File Room).

-Assist with the CHIMERA program for tracking and identifying chemicals on campus.

-Monitor travel expense vouchers, coordinate meeting arrangements, and file compliance reports with the local, state and governmental agencies.

Further duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs and goals of the department.

            9 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)

Course work in any discipline as measured by the following conversion table or its   proportional equivalent:

            30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)

            Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen (18) months

            90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)

       - Work experience in bookkeeping, office support, or closely related experience.
