Job Posting Description:

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Intercollegiate Athletics department seeks applications for a part-time, Civil Service Extra Help Bus Driver.

Candidates will be responsible for driving various athletic teams to scheduled events on University-owned charter buses (one-day and multi-day trips). Candidates may be required to help load and unload equipment as needed. The Driver will be required to keep detailed travel records to comply with Department of Transportation regulations. The selected candidate must follow specified time schedules, will inspect vehicles before departure, and ensure the safety of all passengers on board.

Hours and days of work will vary based on the needs of the department. The ability to work days, nights and weekends is required.

This position is a current Civil Service Extra Help vacancy at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. These are temporary positions at the University. Extra Help positions do not offer benefits.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

-Must hold a valid Class A or B, Commercial Driver’s License with Air Brake and passenger endorsement and meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

-A satisfactory driving record that demonstrates a commitment to safety with no more than 2 moving violations and no accidents within the previous three years and no suspensions, disqualifications, or revocations.
-Minimum of two (2) years, verifiable experience operating commercial or large vehicles or verified completion of a qualified, comprehensive driver training program.
-Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
