Medical Insurance Representative

The School of Dental Medicine in Alton, Illinois is seeking to fill a full-time Medical Insurance Representatives position.  Under direct supervision of the Accounting Associate, the Medical Insurance Representative reviews patient balances analyzing the make-up of the balance and communicates this to the clinic patients. Duties for the Medical Insurance Representative include but are not limited to:
-Take necessary actions to complete of process various types of routine, non-complex claims including third party payers.
-Accept payments and apply them to the patient’s account.
-Work with third party payers including all commercial insurance carriers and Medicaid.
-Analyze and reconcile patient accounts referring to patient chart as needed; investigate discrepancies and determine appropriate action required to complete the claim process, billing procedure or adjudication process.
-Conduct patient account analysis, including interpreting the coding, applying complex reimbursement policies and coordination of benefits.

The Medical Insurance Representative may be assigned additional duties and responsibilities in support of the department’s mission and goals.

Any one or any combination that equals six (6) months from the categories below:
   (a)  Experience within a health insurance/medical billing environment.
   (b)  Medical billing certification from an accredited program (i.e., Certified Professional Coder (CPC); Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT); Certified Coding Specialist (CCS); Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA); National Healthcareer Association (NHA)).
   (c)  College coursework in insurance/benefits administration, human resource management, health information management, finance, accounting or closely related fields such as business administration and/or business management:
      -30 semester hours equals six (6) months.
      -60 semester hours equals one (1) year.
      -90 semester hours equals two (2) years.
      -120 semester hours or higher equals three (3) years.

$ 2,246.17 Monthly (non-negotiable), excellent benefits package.
