SIUE Office of Admissions is accepting applications for open recruitment for potential future openings for Admissions Counselor for academic year 2020-2021.  This listing does not represent an actual current vacancy; rather it allows interested persons to apply for this title for expected future vacancies.  The department will continue to review applicants as they submit their materials and contact qualified individuals if and when positions come available.

The Admissions Counselor is a vital member of the SIUE’s Admissions department, providing counsel and advice to prospective students and their families while guiding them through the enrollment process.

As the Admissions Counselor, this position is the first impression for many potential students. The Counselor must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and relate well to prospective and continuing students as well as administration, faculty, and staff.

Additionally, the Admissions Counselor will conduct various public presentations representing the University at college day/night programs at high schools, colleges, and college fairs.  These outreach efforts focus on increasing enrollment by attracting academically strong students from diverse backgrounds who value citizenship and integrity.  Due to the professional duties of this position, evening and weekend hours may be required.

Further duties and responsibilities may be assigned in support of the department’s mission and goals.

Applicants will be subject to a background check and/or drug screening prior to an offer of employment. 

-Bachelor’s degree. 
-Excellent verbal, written communication and technical skills are essential.
-Excel in relationship-building and organizational skills, be able to multitask, work independently and as a team player, and have an aptitude for detail-oriented tasks.
-Ability to communicate with individuals from varying backgrounds.
-Understand and adhere to the Statement of Practices and Courtesies for the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), as well as both the Illinois Association of College Admission Counseling (IACAC) and the Missouri Association for College Admission Counseling (MOACAC).
-Candidate must maintain a valid driver’s license.

-Two (2) years of experience in a college or university setting in admissions, counseling, communication and/or public relations.

Non-Exempt
$2,583.33 Monthly, excellent benefits package.
