SIUE East St. Louis Charter High School is seeking applicants for part-time, substitute Teacher positions for the upcoming academic year 2022-2023.   The primary purpose of the position is to perform the duties typical of a secondary (grade 9-12) substitute teacher in the absence of a content Faculty Associate. The selected candidate(s) is expected to be punctual for all required meetings, classes and duty assignments, and remain at assignment for an appropriate length of time (as determined by the Director). The Substitute Teacher will use a variety of instructional strategies to encourage students’ development of critical thinking, problem solving, and performance through the use of recognized effective instructional methods as well as demonstrate knowledge of behavior management techniques to implement management procedures which promote acceptable classroom behavior with the goal of enhancing students’ learning.  At no time should a Teacher leave a student(s) unsupervised.

Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs and goals of the school. Shifts and days needed may vary.  Once part of substitute listing (after hiring process), positions are an on-call, as needed basis. This posting is for positions beginning fall 2022 through spring 2023 (Academic Year 2022-2023).

- Must possess Illinois substitute teacher certificate through the Illinois Department of Education. 
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required for this position. 
- Working knowledge of instructional technology tools and data-driven decision making. 
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products and able to learn computerized individual instruction software packages.

- Previous teaching experience in an urban high school setting.
